Australian Minister, Melissa Parke visited Don Bosco

Australian Minister for International Development, Melissa Parke visited Don Bosco Technical Institute, Henderson, Solomon Islands on 24th July. She was welcomed by Fr. Ambrose Pereira sdb, Rector, Ms Camari Bainivalu, Principal and Mr Bede O’Brien, APTC Operations Manager for Solomon Islands, Salesians, staff and students.

The Minister was accompanied by Joshua Wilson, Minister’s Adviser; James Batley, AusAID’s Deputy Director General, former head of RAMSI and High Commissioner to the Solomon Islands and Sue Connell, head of AusAID in the Solomon Islands.

Mahitahi Volunteers to share skills

Mahitahi is the official Catholic overseas volunteer sending agency, and is incorporated with Caritas Aotearoa New Zealand, the Catholic agency for justice, peace and development.

Mahitahi works in partnership with the communities of Oceania, assisting them as they journey to achieving their goals.

Mahitahi does this by recruiting skilled New Zealanders with the appropriate expertise and experience, to engage with people at the grassroots to work together for a more just, equitable, peaceful and sustainable world
